“Soteria is not a word for a feeling. In the Greek it is the word you would use for a man pulled from the water — rescue, deliverance, preservation, safety. It assumes danger. It assumes someone who could not save himself, and someone who could.
That is the first thing to settle, because a salvation you can talk yourself into is a salvation you can talk yourself out of. This one was paid for.”
